What is the local currency and do local businesses accept US currency?
The local currency is the C.I. dollar. $1 C.I. is equal to $1.25U.S.D. All stores and services on the island will accept U.S. currency, however you will receive change in C.I. Credit cards are widely accepted, as are traveler’s checks, and ATM machines are located in several locations in Georgetown.

Where is there a grocery store?
There are several Grocery stores in town,  "Fosters Food Fair" in East End, just walking distance from Morritt´s! Foster's Food Fair is one of four large food stores on Grand Cayman.

  • Foster’s Food Fair: Upon leaving the airport on Owen Roberts Drive, you arrive at a STOP sign. Take a left and continue no more than ¼ mile where you’ll find Foster’s on the right.

  • Hurley’s: Continue past Foster’s 1/3 mile until you come upon another STOP sign. Stay to the left and continue around the foot of the runway and follow signs eastward to Boddentown and East End. You are now on Crewe Road. Approximately 1.8 miles further, on the left as you navigate a roundabout will be Hurley’s supermarket in Grand Harbour Plaza.

The other two markets are on West Bay Road on Seven Mile Beach. Kirk Supermarket is closer to Georgetown, at the corner of Eastern Avenue and West Bay Road. Foster’s at the Strand is the island’s biggest market and is located 1.8 miles north of Kirk on the east side of West Bay Road. Visits to these markets are best made on days when you decide to visit Seven Mile Beach.

All markets take charge cards and the registers automatically convert Cayman dollars to U.S. at the official rate. Important: All stores are closed on Sundays, but open until 10 or 11 pm the rest of the week. Plan accordingly!

What should I bring?
Wow, that’s a big question, but lets see if we can provide a basic overview. I would suggest sun block, sunglasses and beachwear. A nice pair of Bermuda shorts and a polo shirt will get you in to any restaurant on the island, as this is a very casual place. We supply beach towels at no charge. There are hairdryers in all units. There are irons in The Grand, but not in The Morritt’s Tortuga Club. There is a laundry room that offers facilities for ironing. If you like music, you may wish to bring a CD player. Snorkeling gear is available for rental from the dive shop at $10.C.I./day, however, you may wish to purchase a set at home and bring it with you... you will find a 7-day rental will just about cover the cost. Many guests like to bring beach umbrellas. Beach lounge chairs are provided and are abundant. Be sure to pick up your limit at the duty- free, as alcohol is quite expensive here on the island.

If you bring food items from the abroad such as meats they must be in the original package and USDA approved. We suggest you retain receipts of any overseas purchases to present to local customs agents.

Any further questions can be directed to our resort representatives.

Can I drink the water?
Yes. The water quality and food quality in the Cayman Islands is of the highest standard. In many cases, you may find our water quality better than what you are accustomed to back home, so eat, drink and enjoy!
What type of outlets/voltages do you run in the Cayman Islands?
We run the same as the U.S. You will not need an adaptor to use your laptop computer or any other accessories that require an outlet.
